By downloading, installing, or using the BiteLog application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
BiteLog provides nutrition and meal-tracking tools that may allow you to:
- Log meals manually, by voice, text, barcode, photo, or food catalog search
- Track calories, macros, water intake, and weight toward your goals
- View daily summaries, statistics, and personalized insights
- Browse meal plans and diet templates
- Chat with an AI assistant about nutrition and logging habits
- Optionally sync with Apple Health on supported devices
- Store most data locally on your device and use cloud features when signed in or enabled
The App is for general wellness and informational purposes only. It does not provide medical, dietary, or clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified health professional.
3. User Accounts and Data
3.1 Account Creation
- The App may require account creation for certain features
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
3.2 Data Storage
- Meals, goals, and related content are primarily stored locally (for example in
bitelog_db.sqlite) - Some data may be stored in Firebase when you use sign-in, sync, or cloud analysis features
- You are responsible for backing up your data
- We do not guarantee data recovery in case of device loss or app uninstallation
4. Content and Intellectual Property
4.1 User Content
- You retain ownership of information you enter or upload
- You are solely responsible for the content you submit
- You warrant that you have the right to use any content you provide
4.2 Prohibited Content
You may not use the App to submit content that:
- Violates any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
- Is illegal, harmful, or offensive
- Infringes on the rights of third parties
- Contains malware or malicious code
4.3 Third-Party Materials
- Third-party data, links, or integrations may be subject to separate terms
- You are responsible for your use of any third-party content accessible through the App
5. Health and Nutrition Information
5.1 Not Medical Advice
- Calorie estimates, macro breakdowns, and AI suggestions are approximations and may be inaccurate
- Photo and voice analysis results depend on image quality and model limitations
- Consult a doctor, dietitian, or other qualified professional before making health decisions
- Do not use the App to diagnose, treat, or manage medical conditions
5.2 Service Limitations
- Features may depend on device capabilities, permissions (camera, microphone, Health), and network availability
- We may adjust, limit, or discontinue features to maintain performance or compliance
- Errors or delays may occur due to technical issues or third-party services
6. Privacy and Data Protection
6.1 Data Collection
We may collect:
- Usage analytics via Firebase Analytics
- Error and performance data via Sentry
- Account and cloud data via Firebase Authentication and Firestore when you sign in
- Meal images sent for analysis when you use photo logging
- Device information for technical support
6.2 Data Usage
- Meal logs and preferences are primarily stored on your device unless a feature explicitly uses our servers
- Analytics and error data are used to improve reliability and user experience
- We may use aggregated, anonymized usage data for product improvement
6.3 Third-Party Services
The App may integrate with:
- Firebase (Google) for authentication, analytics, Firestore, Cloud Functions, messaging, and remote config
- Adapty for subscription management
- Sentry for error monitoring
- Apple Health on iOS, when you grant permission
- Other providers described in the Privacy Policy
- These services have their own privacy policies
7. Subscriptions and Premium
7.1 BiteLog Premium
- Premium features may be offered through in-app subscriptions managed by Adapty
- Payment is processed by Apple or Google; refund and billing terms follow their policies
- Subscription benefits and pricing are shown in the App at the time of purchase
7.2 Cancellation
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's store account settings
- Access to premium features typically continues until the end of the current billing period
8. Technical Requirements
8.1 Device Compatibility
- The App targets current supported versions of iOS and Android as listed in the store listing
- Some features may require an internet connection
- Sufficient storage space may be required for local data
8.2 Performance
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted service
- The App may experience downtime for maintenance
- Performance may vary based on device capabilities and network conditions
9. User Responsibilities
9.1 Lawful Use
- You must use the App in compliance with applicable laws
- You are responsible for how you rely on information shown in the App
9.2 Prohibited Activities
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where allowed by law
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Interfere with the App's functionality or security
10. Disclaimers and Limitations

- The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law
- We do not guarantee continuous, error-free operation

- We do not warrant that nutrition estimates, food data, or AI responses are complete or accurate for your situation
- You should verify important dietary or health decisions with a qualified professional
10.3 Limitation of Liability
- Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or in-app purchases in the twelve (12) months before the claim, if any
11. Updates and Modifications

- We may release updates to improve functionality and security
- Updates may be required to continue using the App

- Continued use after changes may constitute acceptance where permitted by law
- We will notify users of material changes when practicable
12. Termination

- Uninstalling the App may remove local data unless you have a separate backup
