1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Facemint application ("App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our AI photo editor on iPhone and Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Facemint does not require you to create an account with email, Apple Sign In, or Google Sign In. An anonymous identifier is created in the background to support credits, subscriptions, AI edit jobs, and device records. You never see a sign-in screen.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Photos, prompts, and edit choices:

  • Photos you take with the camera or pick from your photo library to edit
  • Text instructions you write for AI Edit
  • Your consent confirmation that you own the photo or have permission to use it (with a timestamp)
  • The edit you choose (for example a Retake or a Look) and your optional thumbs up / down feedback on a result
  • Language and notification preferences
  • Feedback or support messages you send to us by email

On-device editing: Natural Fix and manual retouching (skin, under-eyes, teeth, definition, light) run entirely on your device. Face detection for these tools uses Google ML Kit on your device; the photo and the detected face positions are not uploaded for these tools.

AI edits: A photo is uploaded only when you apply an AI edit (Retake, Looks, or AI Edit). Uploaded photos are used only to create that edit. They are deleted from our servers right after the edit completes, and in any case within 24 hours. We do not create or store face embeddings or face templates, and your photos and prompts are never used to train AI models.

2.2 Information from Device and Platform Services

When you use certain features, the App may access:

  • Camera — to take a photo when you choose to
  • Photo library — to pick a photo and to save edited photos when you choose to
  • Notifications — for optional reminders and tips, when you opt in
  • Device identifiers — for anonymous authentication, analytics, crash reporting, app integrity checks, free edit eligibility, and subscription validation
  • App Store / Google Play billing records — processed by Apple or Google and validated through Adapty

Camera and photo library access are used only for the photos you select. The App does not scan, upload, or read other photos in your library.

2.3 Information Collected Automatically

Device and app information:

  • Device model, operating system version, and app version
  • A device or installation identifier for analytics, crash reporting, or subscription validation
  • Anonymous Firebase user identifier used for background authentication, credits, and AI edit jobs
  • Language and theme preferences

Usage analytics:

  • App launch events and session duration
  • Feature usage (for example tools selected, AI edits started or completed, saves, shares, paywall views)
  • Crash reports and error logs
  • Performance metrics

2.4 App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS, if we use analytics that may be considered tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, the App will ask for your permission before accessing the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). You can decline; the App remains usable. Firebase Analytics collection stays off on iOS until ATT resolves. If you allow tracking, analytics partners may receive a device identifier as permitted by your choice.

2.5 Information We Do Not Collect

Unless you provide it or a feature requires it, we do not aim to collect:

  • Your name, email address, or phone number through in-app sign-up (there is no sign-in UI)
  • Precise GPS location
  • Your contacts or address book
  • Biometric identifiers, face embeddings, or face templates derived from your photos
  • Photos other than the ones you explicitly select
  • Microphone recordings or content from inside other apps

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Primary purposes

  • Apply on-device retouching and AI edits to the photos you select
  • Check that an AI edit still looks like the person in your original photo; if it does not, the edit is retried once or your credits are refunded. This comparison is done per edit by an AI model and is not used to identify you
  • Track credits, your free AI edit, and refunds for failed edits tied to your anonymous identifier
  • Validate and restore Facemint Pro subscriptions and credit pack purchases
  • Check photos and prompts for content that is not allowed before and after an AI edit
  • Load the edit catalog, remote configuration, and feature flags
  • Deliver optional reminders and tips
  • Provide customer support when you contact us

3.2 Analytics and improvement

  • Understand aggregate App usage and stability
  • Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
  • Improve edits, result quality, and reliability

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local storage

  • Your edits in progress, edit history, and preferences are stored on your device
  • Photos you save to your photo library remain there until you delete them
  • Data persists until you delete it in the App, uninstall the App, or reset your device

4.2 Cloud processing and storage

  • Photos for AI edits are sent over HTTPS to our backend only to run the edit and are deleted right after it completes (within 24 hours at most)
  • AI edit results are kept in Firebase Cloud Storage for up to 3 days so the App can download them, then deleted automatically
  • AI edit jobs (including prompts), consent confirmations, credits, device, and subscription-related records are stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore; job records are deleted together with their results
  • Servers are located in the European Union (Firebase europe-west1 / eur3)
  • We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including app integrity checks, to protect information we process
  • Network communications use HTTPS

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Firebase and Google Cloud

  • Firebase Analytics
  • Firebase Authentication (anonymous)
  • Firebase App Check
  • Firebase Remote Config
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging, if notifications are enabled
  • Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage for AI edit jobs, results, credits, device, and subscription records
  • Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch to screen uploaded photos and AI results for content that is not allowed
  • Google ML Kit face detection, which runs on your device

5.2 AI image providers

  • For AI edits, your photo and instructions are sent to an AI model provider (fal.ai, running Google Gemini image models) solely to create your edit and to check that the result still looks like you
  • Content is processed under the provider's API terms, which do not allow it to be used to train models
  • Providers run their own safety filters and may refuse a request

5.3 Adapty

  • App Store and Google Play subscription and in-app purchase management
  • Purchase history and entitlement validation tied to your store transaction records

5.4 Sentry

  • Crash reporting and error monitoring

5.5 Apple and Google

  • App Store and Google Play process payments; Apple and Google receive transaction data according to their privacy policies

6. App Privacy Details

Our store privacy labels reflect categories that may be collected for analytics, app functionality, or purchase validation and are not used for cross-app tracking unless you consent via ATT on iOS:

  • Photos or videos — photos you send for AI edits, processed only to create your edit and deleted right after; AI results kept up to 3 days
  • Other user content — AI Edit instructions, stored with the edit job and deleted with it
  • User ID — anonymous identifier for app functionality, credits, and analytics
  • Device ID — collected for analytics and app functionality
  • Product interaction — collected for analytics and app functionality
  • Crash data, performance data, and other diagnostic data — collected via analytics and Sentry
  • Purchases — collected via Adapty for subscription and credit pack management

We do not collect contact info, precise location, or health data.

7. Your Rights and Choices

  • Manage camera, photo library, and notification permissions in iOS or Android Settings
  • Decline App Tracking Transparency on iOS while continuing to use core features
  • Use on-device Natural Fix and retouching without uploading your photo
  • Use Settings → Delete my data in the App to remove all edits, uploaded photos, AI edit jobs, and consent records from your device and our servers
  • Uninstall the App to remove local data from your device
  • Request deletion of any remaining server-side data — see our Support & Data Deletion page
  • Depending on your location, you may have additional rights to access, delete, or object to certain processing

8. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. Only edit photos of yourself or of adults who have agreed to their use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and you must not upload photos of minors or of celebrities and public figures for AI edits.
