1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Splitwave application ("App") from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

Your use of the App is also subject to the applicable store terms, including Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, or Google Play's Terms of Service, which govern downloads, in-app purchases, and subscriptions.

2. Description of Service

Splitwave is a karaoke and cover studio. The App may allow you to:

  • Split songs you import or record into 4 stems (vocals, drums, bass, other) or, with Pro, 6 stems (adding guitar and piano) using AI
  • Mix stems with mute, solo, and volume, save Stem Scenes, and apply one-tap mix presets
  • Sing karaoke with lyrics you type and sync yourself, chords, BPM and key detection, a metronome, pitch and tempo changes, and section loops
  • Record vocal takes and video covers, align them with Auto Take Sync, comp the best take per section, and review them with Pitch Coach
  • Apply vocal effects, trim and fade takes, and export mixes, stems, and video covers as MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, or MP4
  • Try three built-in demo songs and one free preview split, and upgrade to Splitwave Pro

AI separation. Stems are created by an AI model and may contain artifacts, bleed between instruments, or other imperfections. Results depend on the source recording.

3. App Store, Google Play & Device Requirements

  • The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play
  • You must comply with applicable store review guidelines and platform usage rules
  • Stem separation and exports require an internet connection; playback, mixing, lyrics, and recording do not
  • Recording requires microphone permission; video covers require camera permission
  • The optional "song ready" notification requires notification permission when you ask for it
  • We do not guarantee the availability, speed, or quality of every separation, which depends on third-party AI infrastructure and your network

4. Accounts and Data

  • Splitwave does not require email, Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or password registration
  • There is no sign-in screen; a Firebase anonymous account is created in the background to support separation jobs, AI minutes, subscriptions, and device records
  • Songs uploaded for separation are deleted from our servers within about 24 hours; stems are kept for up to 30 days, then deleted; your projects are stored on your device
  • Uploaded audio is never used to train AI models
  • We do not guarantee recovery of local data after uninstalling the App or resetting your device; export anything you want to keep
  • You can delete your data at any time in Settings → Delete my data, or see our Support & Data Deletion page

5. Your Content, Copyright & Acceptable Use

  • Only import, split, record, or export audio and video that you own or have the rights or permission to use
  • Stems, mixes, and covers you make from songs owned by others are for your personal practice and private use unless you have the rights holders' permission; you are responsible for any public performance, distribution, or monetization
  • Do not use the App to infringe copyrights or to upload unlawful, hateful, or harmful content
  • Do not attempt to abuse, overload, reverse engineer, or bypass the limits of the AI service
  • You keep all rights to the content you provide and to your own recordings
  • We may suspend AI features for users who violate these rules or abuse the service

6. Subscriptions, AI Minutes & In-App Purchases

Splitwave Pro is offered as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing:

  • Pro Weekly — $6.99 per week (USD; local prices are shown in the App), includes 120 AI minutes every week
  • Pro Yearly — $49.99 per year (USD; local prices are shown in the App), includes 90 AI minutes every month
  • Both plans may include a 3-day free trial; after the trial the subscription renews at the plan price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends
  • AI minutes measure the length of the songs you split; minutes used by a failed split are refunded automatically
  • AI minutes have no cash value, are not transferable, and unused minutes do not carry over to the next period
  • Without Pro you can use the three demo songs and one free preview split of up to 90 seconds; Pro also unlocks 6 stems, Stem Scenes, take comping, vocal effects, take editing, video covers, and exports
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the price shown in the App
  • On iOS, manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
  • On Android, manage subscriptions in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
  • Use Restore purchases on the paywall or in Settings after reinstalling or switching devices
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to store policies

7. Privacy and Third-Party Services

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. The App integrates with services such as:

  • Firebase and Google Cloud for anonymous authentication, app integrity, analytics, remote configuration, messaging, cloud functions, storage, and cloud records
  • Replicate, running the open-source Demucs model, to split songs into stems
  • Adapty for App Store and Google Play subscription management
  • Sentry for crash and error monitoring

Splitwave does not show ads and does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

8. Disclaimers and Limitations

  • The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law
  • We do not guarantee that stems, pitch scores, chord, BPM, or key detection will be accurate for every song
  • You are responsible for how you use and share your stems, mixes, and covers
  • Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or its content except as required by applicable law
  • Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law
  • Total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or in-app purchases in the twelve (12) months before the claim, if any

9. Updates and Termination

  • We may release updates to add features, improve separation quality, security, and platform compatibility
  • We may change the AI models used or the AI minutes included in a plan; changes are shown in the App before you subscribe or renew
  • We may modify these Terms; continued use after changes may constitute acceptance where permitted by law
  • We may suspend access for users who violate the acceptable use rules above
  • You may stop using the App at any time; uninstalling removes local data unless you exported it
